A 3 HP evaporator generally refers to an evaporator/unit cooler selected to work with a 3 HP refrigeration condensing unit. It is normally installed inside a cold room, freezer room, chiller room, or walk-in cooler. The unit contains a finned evaporator coil and axial fan(s) that circulate cold air throughout the room.
Commercial 3 HP refrigeration systems can use different evaporator capacities depending on the room temperature, refrigerant, ambient temperature, airflow and required cooling load. Therefore, “3 HP evaporator” alone is not a complete technical specification.
